Sarah’s Story:

I love the combination of burst cardio and strength training that Dustin offers with his programs. Even as a runner, the cardio challenges me. I also love that the workouts are suitable for a wide range of fitness levels, allowing moms to work out together.

Following Dustin’s programs has changed my life in so many ways. After losing 6 inches from my belly, I now have muscle definition on my stomach and, for the first time in a long time, I don’t feel self-conscious in a bikini. My overall strength has improved greatly, so that everyday tasks like carrying my kids and groceries are so much easier now. I can even do 50 pushups in a row! But, best of all, being in shape made my recovery from brain surgery significantly easier and helped prevent other health problems from developing.

Sarah’s Tips:

“Change it up! When it comes to exercise, keep variety somehow.”
“Don’t make excuses not to go; never schedule anything during your exercise time.”
“Get away and take the time for yourself. As the weight comes off, your confidence will build, and you will believe that you can make it happen.”

Jane went from a size 10 down to a 6, got rid of her “muffin top” and got back her confidence. She is showing her three teenagers what it means to be a Fit Mom for Life.

Jane

Jane’s Story:

I have always been active, but in the last few years I had developed a muffin top roll which meant that my clothes didn’t look right anymore. Before I started Dustin’s program, I was going to spin class a few times a week, but I didn’t see any significant progress in my problem area. Then I tried Dustin’s bootcamp—it was really hard, but it was the challenge that I needed to address my eating and make a conscious effort to change my habits and my lifestyle. Now I feel like a more fit person, without a lot of extra flab. By taking control and feeling good about the results in this area of my life, I’ve also increased my confidence to do more in other areas.

Jane’s Tips:

“Set a goal that will get you out of bed in the morning.”
“Be active with your kids—take the dog for a walk, go hiking, go for a bike ride.”

Losing 40 pounds in less than 6 months, Tina has gone from a size 18 to a size 8, and gained more energy to live in the moment. That comes in handy, because Tina has 2 young kids, works odd hours, and still makes time to workout.

Tina’s story:

I like to bike, to be outside, to hike with my family. But I was too tired to do these things, even though it’s really important for me that my kids see their parents as healthy, so that they follow that example as they grow. Now that I have been doing boot camp for over 6 months, I have seen so many changes. I have a lot more energy, I’m mentally more positive, and I have a big sense of accomplishment.

When I see people I haven’t seen in a while, they are always asking how I lost weight, so they can apply that same method themselves. I tell them how I eat smaller meals every day, instead of scarfing down the typical American portion size. And I also tell them about boot camp, and how wonderful the social aspect of it is, along with the physical. The trainers are phenomenal and really motivating.

Tina’s Tips:

“Be careful of exactly what is in food and be really thorough about reading labels.”
“Plan your meals and buy your groceries for a week at a time, so that healthy food is always on hand.”

Jody’s story:

When I joined Dustin’s program, I started seeing a difference more quickly than I had with anything else I had ever tried before. It was exciting! At home on the treadmill, I would be killing myself doing the same thing for an hour and not getting the results I wanted. With the weight training, Dustin has us constantly switching up moves—it is so much fun. And you have women around you laughing together and encouraging each other, which pushes you to do more. You’re with a group of people just like you, which helps a lot, rather than doing it by yourself. Now I’m more confident, more secure with who I am, and I’m really happy.

Jody’s tips:

“Always have sliced cucumbers and apples in your fridge so you don’t grab for other, less healthy snacks.”
“You can always make time for a quick workout! Set a timer for a minute and do some mountain climbers to get your heart rate up. Then so some dips on a chair for another minute.”
“When you’re watching TV, hold plank during the commercial breaks.”
“That first week is hard, but as soon as it is over you are going to be in the swing of things and you are going to see results.”
“Don’t do it alone. Find a friend to get fit with you and encourage each other.”

Cutting her body fat percentage in half, Becky lost 50 pounds, went from a size 18 to a 4, and overcame numerous health challenges. Despite having health problems, she has radically transformed her body by lifting heavy weights in Dustin’s program, and has also changed her life.

becky

Becky’s story:

My medical issues really limit the use of my legs, so Dustin had me doing upper body weight training and some core. I went from 175 pounds to 123, but an even bigger change for me has been how active I can be now, and how much more I can do with my kids. By not taking breaks while weight lifting, I can keep my heart rate up in the aerobic range, which gives me much greater cardio strength than I had before.

In terms of nutrition, I try to eat as naturally as possible; it’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. I’m good at planning ahead, so often when I make healthy food, I’ll double the recipe or triple it and freeze it. I try to set a good example for my kids, and I think I’m teaching them well.

I like that Dustin’s is a complete program with such a great community component. It’s a program that helps you spiritually and mentally, in addition to the nutrition and exercise.

Becky’s Tips:

“Always keep a snack with you.”
“Put your workout on the calendar, just like an appointment.”
“Don’t be afraid to try new things, don’t be afraid of heavy weights.”

A busy graduate student, Crystal lost over 115 pounds, went down 8 dress sizes, and is still going strong. She has made changes that are now a part of her normal, everyday life, and is living it to the fullest.

Crystal

Crystal’s story:

When I first started, I just took it one day at a time. I noticed the internal changes first, which kept me going back. I keep reminding myself that I may not be where I want to be right now, but if I just keep taking the little steps forward, I’ll get there. I focus on one more rep, one more minute, one more breath. Now I feel like I can challenge myself to do whatever I put my mind to.

It took me years to put on all the weight, and recognizing that it wouldn’t come off overnight was big. But so was realizing that if you keep it up, you will see the changes. I want my body to look strong and healthy; it’s not just about losing the weight. As a result of my transformation, I am now more at ease with my place in the world; I’m ok with taking risks, putting myself out there, not worrying about others judging me.

Crystal’s tips:

“Don’t think of it as a diet, think of it as how you eat now.”
“Think about where you want to be, then think about the goals you need to make to get there.”

A dedicated mother who is showing her daughter how important it is to take care of yourself, Aimee lost 85 pounds, went from a size 16 to a size 2-4, and now loves lifting heavy weights. Despite throwing up during her first few Dustin workouts, Aimee kept coming back, and is now in amazing shape.

Aimee

Aimee’s Story:

I was doing Pilates 2 or 3 times a week and not seeing as much progress as I wanted, so I decided to try Dustin’s program and have had great results. I have felt my stomach flatten out and my waist whittle away, and I like the heavy weights—they make me feel powerful. I like that the program works for all abilities, you can work your way up. I’ve made exercise a habit—it’s part of my day now.

When friends say “I’d love to spend some time with you,” I invite them to come work out with me. I still go out to lunch with them, but I make different food choices. I now spend time with people who have the same goals, so we can work together on them. I feel great, and I love having other people share that feeling.

Aimee’s Tips:

“If I can do it, you can do it!”
“Don’t deprive yourself of food, just change what you eat.”
“Surround yourself with people who support your goals.”

Alecia dropped from a size 8 to a size 4, going from “skinny fat to skinny fit.” The mom of 2 young kids who stayed fit throughout her pregnancies, Alecia has reduced her body fat percentage and become a certified personal trainer since starting to train with Dustin.

Alecia

Alecia’s Story:

I was in pretty good shape and pretty active when I started with Dustin. I was doing lots of cardio-based classes, lighter weights, and some running. But after a month of Dustin’s classes, I was hooked. I loved using the heavier weights, and I could really tell a difference in my body. I wasn’t seeing a lot of results on the scale, but my clothes were fitting very differently, in a good way. I use the scale as a guide now, but it’s not about the number to me, it’s about how I feel. I’m more toned and fitter than before, and that’s huge.
My goals have gotten a lot loftier, both inside the gym and out. I go after things that I probably wouldn’t have before; I work a lot harder now. I like to share my excitement for fitness with other people because I LOVE it!

Alecia’s Tips:

“Be educated on nutrition–pay attention to what is in your food and drinks.”
“Find a friend to workout with, somebody to keep you accountable.”
“Don’t be nervous about working out in a group. Everyone is mostly concerned with themselves, not busy watching what others are doing. Use the support of the group to keep you going.”
